The film begins with a pale pink aluminium plate used to stop water infiltration in a barn: Giorgio Pierobon, a retired teacher of Treviso, is looking for the bodies of eleven American aviators disappeared in Alta Badia during an air battle against German torpedoes. The registration number found on the pink plate will bring him to the resting place of the eleven young men’s bodies.

“The Dolomites bomber” is the chronicle of a search through old documents, photos and interviews. The main characters of this story are Giorgio Pierobon and his determination to find the truth, but also the Mayors of local villages, priests, hotel owners and farmers who helped him piecing the facts together.

Keith Bullock, a WWII RAF aviator, and American soldiers on the Armyairforces.com forum, also played an important role in this search: thanks to all their accounts and to the evidence and documents filed by Pierobon, the mystery was unveiled and the story ends in a little cemetery surrounded by Dolomites in Tor Cervara.
